This is a short trip considering what we could see and
do there. We should go back there some day and spend more time to relax
and enjoy. We landed in Calgary and drove to Lake Louise. From Lake
Louise Inn we visited Lake Louise and Moraine Lake...
Starting from Lake Louise we hiked to
Mirror Lake... almost to the Tea House which was the original goal.
We next drove down to Moraine Lake.
The color of the lake is unbelievable.
We climbed to the top of the rock
pile. The origin of this strange rock pile is still unknown to geologists.
We next went to Yoho National Park to visit
Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake, Natural Bridge and a tiny little town called
On our way to Takakkaw Fall we made a stop

Tunnel opened in 1909 the steep track caused many wrecks and runaway trains.
Walking around Emerald Lake Lodge and the
The fine limestone powder of Kicking Horse

We found many colorful guest houses in this

Day 2 we took a round trip from Lake Louise

After a 10 minute hike from the road, we
reached the Mistaya Canyon. From a bridge across the canyon, we can peer
down into the narrow gorge and see how the powerful current has eroded the
limestone and formed potholes in the rock.
The rest stop at Saskatchewan River has a
little bar where you can make your own grill lunch.
The view opens up near Nigel Creek Canyon.
The destination is the Columbia Icefield.
